Why speed dating?

The obvious option for young singles in Britain is going out for a 'night out on the town'. Bars and nightclubs are generally a hub where you can meet people, relax and have a good time. In nightclubs you often have loud music playing and therefore it becomes more difficult to have a proper conversation with someone that you have met. The main problem with club nights is the unlikelihood of meeting that someone compatible. Upon speaking to our peers, ladies often complain they attract the wrong kind of guy and guys complain that there are no 'decent' women. It is evident young singles are becoming increasingly disillusioned by the whole process and want something more...

The other option young people have is online dating. This entails registering with a website alongside other single individuals and uploading personal information in order to attract suitors. However the capacity of this process is severely limited. The users can only go as far as looking at a profile picture, sending an email or text message to someone they are interested in. If interest is established, hesitance around meetings including ensuring safety etc can put individuals off, especially females. If a meeting does go ahead, the problem then arises that the user may have found someone they are interested in online, but then meeting that person face to face may give a whole new (often undesirable) perspective of that person. The situation then becomes awkward and uncomfortable. This is where are event differs...

Speed dating solves the problems of the previous options mentioned. It is a social event which brings like minded singles together in a relaxed environment. You have just enough time with each person to decide whether or not you would like to see them again, and you only get put in touch with the people you want to meet - no awkwardness or discomfort. Speed dating make sense.

So the positives of speed dating are:
  • Everyone has the same intention and is clear from the outset
  • It is a great icebreaker, aiding networking amongst single individuals
  • The attendee gets to meet up to to 20 single individuals
  • Works around today's busy lifestyle
  • Avoids bustle of town centre on an average night out
  • It is cheaper than an average night out
  • It takes place in a safe environment
  • All the hard work is done for the attendee

It is down to the 20 first dates team to bring together like minded individuals of similar ages and interests.
